About 25 years ago a small company in Santa Monica, California wanted to create a product that wasn’t offered in the market before – real juice without any preservatives or sugar. That is where Naked Juice was born. It was only supplied to one store at that time, but word got around and now “Naked Juice” is carried nationwide from grocery stores to deli counters. They only use the freshest ingredients and mostly local products, when available. In addition, this product is green because their plastic bottles are 100% recyclable. Most of the products out there can only be reused ones, but by appling a process called “renewable polyethylene terephthalate”, Naked Juice bottles can be recycled over and over again. Since the use of this method, they have cut their oil consumption by about 57,000 barrels a year and use 48% less energy in the process.

Naked Juice’s Sustainability Promise

The makers of Naked Juice are committed to doing their fair share in taking care of the environment. That is why they have a  sustainable commitment  practice. There are eight different benefits from their sustainable projects:

1. Water – Contamination of the water ways are lessened by reducing fertilizers, pesticides and others from their farms.

2. Soil Erosion – They plant local plants and vegetation along streams and rivers to lessen the impacts of soil erosion near farms.

3. Pesticides – Dangerous pesticides are strictly controlled or prohibited from being used on the farms and only use mechanical or biological pest control on their farms.

4. Wildlife – Local wildlife is protected from deforestation by placing a buffer zone near wetlands and forests.

5. Recycling – farm waste products are recycled to be used as fertilizers and others like plastic and glass are recycled when possible.

7. Farm management – A certification program helps farmers to plan, improve, solve problems and  monitor their farms better.

8. Farmers – Finally the farming community is taken care by providing them with good wages, housing, clean water, sanitary facilities, safe work place. They also provide housing, schooling, health care and transportation for the farmers families.
